Soul Time Reflections

In The Garden

Being in the garden has become a major source of comfort and inspiration. I am grateful for the sanctuary it provides, particularly as I come to appreciate both the challenges and the gifts in becoming older.

It’s an old garden in which I have inherited snowdrops, daffodils, roses, peonies and other flowers that grow close to the hedgerow of lilac and hawthorn as well as beneath an old apple tree. The garden has a triangular shape with the house on one side and two hedgerows, one with an opening to the meadow garden and fields beyond. In one corner a small circle of trees is to be found.
The holding of eighteen linden trees growing in a circle in the garden is beautiful and strong. In the summer their thick foliage creates a sanctuary of green with dancing dappled sunlight breaking through the leaves. In winter when illuminated by a small tree of light they hold their own special magic.
